Touching lives through DIODE YLC

DIODE YLC Camp

DIODE is the best camp ever! The only camp which changed my life for the better. Each activity is specifically designed for a purpose. No matter what activity it is, indoor or outdoor, it benefits all campers. An extraordinary camp which pushes you beyond your limits, and at the same time allows you to have fun. You know what? This six-day camp can actually change lives.

As a dyslexic, I was never a confident person, often hiding behind my mum’s skirt. After building up my confidence at the camp, I emerged as  a champion at a public speaking competition, and went as far as judging for the national public speaking competition thereafter.

DIODE Camp is life changing! It will leave you with no regrets.

Dreamt that I got robbed.

Backpack_by_Wriin

It was roughly 10am in the morning. There was no one around except for me. I walking slowly up these flight of stairs at a place which is much like an open air market. The place seems a little run down. I’m definitely in a small town. I continued walking towards my car which somehow is on the 1st floor.

As I reached the 1st floor. There was this guy who just walked passed me. He was staring at me and my backpack. Somehow, my backpack seems pretty valuable and I could tell that the guy has intention to rob me. As I was noticing everything that is happening. Another guy with mustache was walking towards our direction too. He too saw my backpack and I could see it in his eyes that he wanted to have a piece of my backpack.

This two random strangers looked at each other and decided to gang up and rob me. I couldn’t figure out what I was carrying in my backpack or what was it in the first place but I knew badly that I didn’t want to lose it at all cost. I quickly told them “hey hey hey… don’t rob me. I’ll give you cash!” I took out my wallet and grab all the cash I have in it. It was a miserable 40+ worth of cash only. The two guys grabbed the cash looked at me and looked at each other in a puzzling manner. I could see that they are debating if they are going to let me go or grab my backpack.

Without giving them any chance to think twice, I quickly ran towards my car which didn’t seem far away. I locked the doors and started driving off thinking to myself, how lucky I was to escaped unscathed.

I woke up from my dreams after that part without knowing what was the valuable thing in my backpack that I didn’t want to lose.

The events in this dream definitely reflected part of my life at this point. I believe it’s a metaphor of what has been robbed from me in my life and I was holding onto something so valuable that I didn’t want to lose and somehow I managed to escape unscathed.

Watch it! Frozen 2013

Disney Frozen 2013

Disney has failed to impress me ever since Steve Jobs and John Lasseter created Pixar. Tangled did stir my heart a bit but not as much as how Brave did. This season, Frozen has that Disney magic that has been missing for so long and it comes in full force here.

The Story
The magic happens in Arendelle. Elsa, the older sister of the two royal heir possesses a special power to create ice at will. It was all peaceful till Elsa learn that she has difficulty controlling her power and ultimately strikes her own sister Anna. With their parents gone, fearing that she could do more harm than good. Elsa has chose to flee Arendelle leaving everything including her caring sister behind.

The Film
I grew up with Disney. I have watched every traditionally animated film they have ever produced. It was magic, wonders, dreams and hope. But somewhere Disney went down hill and Pixar stole their thunder film after film. Today. I’m proud to say Disney has redeemed themselves through Frozen. They have gone back to their basics and brought magic and musical back. Song after song, scene after scene. Frozen makes you want more of the magic.
The voice cast which include Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Johnathan Groff is brilliant. They all played the characters flawlessly with superb ease and likability along with their unique talent in singing. They could really bring out the sympathetic or upbeat songs at will. And most of all, Idina Menzel’s solo of “Let it Go” is the highlight of the entire show. Brings me back wonderful memories of when I was watching Disney classics like ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘The Lion King’ and ‘The Jungle Book’. Frozen totally matched the ranks of old.
The last thing I would like to mention is how the animation team has breath life into the animated world with such beautiful graphics. Every whiff and expansion of the snow and flakes just melts my heart. The ice palace building scene was just breathtaking with the wonderful song “Let it Go” accompanying it.

Favorite Scene
Elsa flees Arendelle and unleashes her magic, creating a breathtaking ice palace.

A hauntingly beautiful powerful song about giving up

a great big world say something

A beautiful song went unnoticed for half a year until a second release followed by top 100 charts after Christina Aguilera throw in her delicate vocals into the mix. This song brings such powerful emotion about humility, sadness and regret.

Ian Axel & Chad Vaccarino wrote this song when both members were experiencing individual heartbreak. Must be hard to carry a scar this deep whenever this song is performed.

To summarize this hauntingly beautiful song

“When you have exhausted all you have for someone and the outcome still doesn’t favor you. Accept it and give up even when love remains.”

Rebecca Black is back with Saturday! [Video]

Rebecca Black Saturday

Why yes… of course the next song by Rebecca Black is ‘Saturday’!

After all she did sing about it in her first single.

“Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes after … wards
I don’t want this weekend to end”

So is it safe to assume that the next song title is ‘Sunday’?

Anyway, here’s that new music video.
