Tricky EPF rules to cheat your hard earned money.

Employees should take extra care of this particular rule EPF has. It’s just outright broad daylight robbery.

The EPF Rule
If ONE (1) of your Nominees in the EPF Nominees list dies, automatically the whole arrangement (EPF Nominees list) is VOID. Meaning if, you only put in One (1) name & unfortunately he/she dies before you? Automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.

Even though if you have few names in the EPF Nominees list, – the whole arrangement is VOID & none of the individual names left in the EPF Nominees list will get their portion & automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.

Piece of advice – if any of the your Nominees in the EPF Nominees list dies, please do immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & present the Death Certificate of the individual & register your NEW / LATEST Nominee in the EPF Nominees list + NEW / LATEST percentage.

If, you & the other party (maybe spouse) involved in the same misfortune (accident / illness) that caused death to both yourself / spouse please, please, please alert your siblings / relatives / parents to immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & share the information within 3 days to AVOID all EPF money to be surrendered to trustee of AMANAH RAYA.

Upon surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA, your children will have to battle the money thru 3 channels;

  • Majlis Agama
  • Pejabat Tanah
  • Mahkamah

EPF’s Response
If a member has more than one nominee and one of the nominees dies during the member’s lifetime, only the portion that was bequeathed to the deceased nominee will be invalid.

Should the member later dies without updating his nomination, the other nominees will receive their portion accordingly. Only the portion that was bequeathed to the deceased nominee will be subject to procedures under ‘EPF savings without nomination’ in which the first priority for the right to claim the member’s savings goes to the nearest next of kin or the appointed administrator of the deceased
member’s estate.

Therefore it is not true that if you, as a member, have named more than one nominee, the entire nomination will be void if one of the nominee dies before you. It follows however that if you have named only one nominee and he or she dies before you, the nomination will be void unless a new beneficiary is nominated.

Please note that you don’t have to produce the death certificate of a deceased nominee to change your nomination. You can change/update your nomination anytime by simply completing a new KWSP 4 (AHL) Form. This will automatically revoke any earlier nomination made.

The information concerning approaching EPF counter within 3 days to avoid EPF savings being ‘surrendered to Amanah Raya’ if no nomination is made or if nominee dies at the same time as the member is not true.

Depending on the amount of savings in the member’s account, if there is no nomination the procedure will be as follows
If member’s EPF savings are less than RM25, 000:

Initial sum of RM2, 500 will be paid to the next of kin.
The balance will be paid after a two-month period from the date of the member’s death.

If member’s EPF savings are more than RM25, 000:

Initially a sum of RM2, 500 will be paid to the next of kin.
The second payment (not more than RM17, 500) will be paid to the next of kin after two months from the date of the member’s death.

The balance of the savings will be paid upon submitting the Letter of Administration/Letter of Probate/Distribution Order/Faraid Certificate from the party that administers estates such as Amanah Raya Berhad or the Court or the Land Office, respectively. The process to obtain these documents is time-consuming and certain fees will also need to be paid. On the other hand, with nomination, no fees need to be paid.

This is precisely why nominating is very important. You should also ensure that you update your beneficiary whenever there are any major life changes such as marriage, additional new members or the death of a nominated beneficiary.

The things my girl friends left in my car.

I have a wonderful backseat where I could find countless things girls left in my car.

Lipstick, eye liner, mascara, scarf, phone, slippers, high heels and the oddest of them all would be a corset.

So why the hell is there a corset to begin with? Now don’t get the wrong idea that I’ve had many kinky things happening in my backseat. I was as puzzled as you are when I first hold it in my hand. There was a million thoughts going through my mind and I just couldn’t link it to anything I’ve done or not done to end up with a corset in my backseat.

I stood there ponder for a bit and remembered one of my African girl friend who looked absolutely stunning in a corset. I bet it was hers. She must’ve took off her corset secretly without me knowing cause it would be so hazardous for me to drive and knowing someone is taking off her corset behind me. She doze off after hence she forgotten all about it when she left the car until I found it.

Oh what did I miss, I should be more sensitive and check out my rear view mirror more often!

Dude, why are you making me guess your age?

Meeting new friends is a fun and exciting activity. But there is one particular type that ticks me off a bit. The kind of guy that makes me guess how old they are.

It is never okay to ask a dude to guess the other dude’s age. It’s so sissy and immature. Do I look like I really want to play the game of guessing your age? Does it sound sexy when I guessed it correctly? Are you going to be flattered when I guessed a number that’s 3 years younger than your real age?

Unless you’re trying to impress another girl, please never ever ask that question towards another dude.

I fear for the future of our nation in Malaysia

This picture above is from a text book in Malaysia. As to why are the kids in Malaysia being asked this question is beyond my comprehension. Below is the question in Malay and translation in English.

Text in Malay
Sekiranya anda seorang pemimpin, nyatakan dua langkah yang boleh anda lakukan untuk mempertahankan status quo orang Melayu.

Text translated in English
If you’re a leader, please state 2 ways you could retain the status quo for Malays.

After reading it, I really fear for the future of our nation in Malaysia. This country will surely perish itself with kids being thought this way. The basic fundamental of building a country starts from the very roots which are our future generations. We need to provide tip top education in order to build great brilliant leaders with integrity and a compassion heart. This tip top education also requires dedicated teachers which to tell the truth, Malaysia is highly lack of.

I’m truly disappointed that even after 50 years, the people who are running the country are still busy pocketing as much resources from the country as they can. Why can’t anyone try to build the country and raise our living standards? Malaysia is a land full of potentials, if only they all could think like my friend, Chong.

Chong
Why remain status quo when there’s always the option to be better?

Don’t watch it! Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 2012

After watching this movie last week, I feel like I have the need to educate the public about this movie. It is a horrible! I mean I would know it’s horrible just by looking at it. What actually made me allow myself to waste my time watching this movie is because I’ve saw a documentary on how the directors and graphics effects team try so hard to make everything look as realistic as possible. How Ghost Rider pisses fire and how the leather jacket boils up close. I was suckered into the beautiful effects. Was it worth it? Nope!

The Story (Part 1)
If you’re a movie goer, you would know that back in 2007 was the first installment of Ghost Rider. But that wasn’t such a great film. How about the second installment? This time around, Ghost Rider is on a quest in return to save his own soul, the very one he sold long ago to save his father and in return do Satan’s deeds.

The story starts off with a special kid everyone was looking after. As usual, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that this special kid has of some use to the Satan. Ghost Rider was brought into the picture of this kid by this holy person who happens to be on a bike as well. This holy personThe attractive contract offered was that he gets to redeem his soul and be once again the human himself, Johnny Blaze. Tempted by the offer, he allowed Ghost Rider to manifest and went on a hunt for this kid. The search for the kid was an easy one and quite a thrilling one. After uniting with the kid, there’s quite a chunk of sentimental drama scenes though. Johnny Blaze did deliver his end and he was cleansed as promised.

Don’t worry, the story doesn’t end here. It just gets weird. Ghost Rider is gone and the kid is once again captured on holy grounds. And so, being the superhero without powers he proceed to try and save this kid again. Déjà vu?

This is as far as the spoiler free goes. If you want to read about what happens further, do scroll down way after the trailer.

The Film
Ghost rider: Spirit of Vengeance 2012 is a high-octane style comic movie. Directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine took great lengths to film this movie. Neveldine actually went on rollerblades and lugged a giant, expensive 3-D camera to film flying off cliff shots. But how many of us really care if it’s shot on Red or an iPhone? We walked into a cinema every time hoping that the trailer we saw months ago is not a lie. We want to watch something awesome!

This film is made for mindless comical carnage with tons of fire effect. The whole film is pretty dark and grunge drooling with grit. I’m quite disappointed that Ghost Rider did not ride as much as the first film. The comic book Ghost Rider is all about riding the bike and conjuring a hellfire bike out of thin air. Chains and fire and more chains flying around from his throat or chest that incinerates every object that stands in his way. Also, they have totally removed the penance stare that literally kills anyone and the ability to defy gravity with his awesome chopper.

The villains are nothing awesome to shout about. After all, you do know that Ghost Rider is considered one of the most powerful Superhero. Ghost Rider is virtually unstoppable like Hulk. The only way to contain their carnage power is their human form.

Acting on Nicolas Cage’s part is okay. The lady and the kid are annoying. All others are just fillers. I believe I didn’t enjoy any of the acting bit at all! Wasn’t sure if it’s intentional or just bad sound editing that most of the people are talking in odd accents and sounded mumbled. They did try to put some comedic elements I honestly think it wasn’t really that funny.

Finally, I do wanna give some credits to the special graphics team and the director for the comical adaption of the onscreen play. If only your story line was amazing (read on further below after the trailer to find out why I hated the story line), you would’ve had my full support in Ghost Rider 3.

Favorite Scene
The ending bit where Ghost Rider sent Satan himself back down to hell!

Warning: contain spoilers

The Story (Part 2, continued)
So Johnny Blaze went to save the kid with no powers and lots of ammo. He was daring enough to wrestle Satan himself. But of course he was flung way down the stage and found himself in a near death situation. At this point, the kid who has got the powers of Satan himself, gave Johnny Blaze his powers back. The same contract that he signed years ago. Ghost Rider reemerges, bad guys are all gone but kid dies. Fret not though, only in comics you get to lose your powers and get em’ back. So the kid was revived by Ghost Rider. End.

As if losing your powers and getting it back is not enough. They had to kill the kid and bring him back to life. I hate movies like this. It’s just too cliche.

The Star misquoted Roshan Thiran

Newspaper in Malaysia are interesting businesses.

We’ve seen bad photoshopped pictures reporting a total different story – http://holiestmonk.blogspot.com/2011/07/malaysia-newspaper-spread-lies-about.html

Today we have Roshan Thiran being misquoted –

According to Roshan Thiran, CEO of Leaderonomics, a leadership development social enterprise, leadership styles are driven by personalities.
“And as far as public perception goes, Lim is seen as a Gen X leader whom people can relate to easily.
“He has established an image as a leader who is approachable. It’s a positive trait but on the downside, he may take a while to respond to issues. (full article here http://goo.gl/uT22j)

Roshan Thiran has clarified on his Facebook page that he is a big fan of Lim Guan Eng and view him as one of the few (if only) true leaders in the political space. He has a high regard for him and regards him as a servant leader who serves the public with dedication, and is a man of action. And if you ask any Gen X-er today who they regard as a great leader, Guan Eng usually wins tops down. All the best to Guan Eng and let it be known that you have a major supporter in Roshan Thiran and his team. (Roshan’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Roshan-Thiran/54645209514)

My first Lantern Festival [Video]

I rarely practice Chinese customs but this year me and a bunch of friends decided to go check out the Chap Goh Meh festival at Taman Jaya lake.

Full moon with lanterns

Lanterns that didn’t make it far

The lake was packed and there’s a stage with performances and games

Busy making their wishes

Idiot trying to light up his cigarette using the fire of the lantern

More wishes

Me joining the fun

Releasing my lantern!

Bonus
Oh, I caught a pair of couples fighting. They must’ve sat there for more than an hour.

Lepoh waterfalls, do the slide! [Video]

If you’ve read my previous post about Lambir waterfalls, you would see how majestic waterfalls are at Borneo island. Lepoh waterfalls, not as majestic but has a different attraction. An extreme slide much like what you get in Sunway Lagoon but generates much much more heart pumping thrills.

The Lepoh Waterfalls

This place is located at Hulu Langat, driving from PJ takes only about an hour plus. It has got a long 1.5 hours hike if you have the stamina to keep up the pace. 2 hours plus if you take rest stops in between. Terrain isn’t tough at all as you do not need special hiking gear to get all the way up. Although if it rains, it might get pretty slippery. When I visited Lepoh waterfalls, there wasn’t much crowd. I say this is due to the long distance steep hike.

The first stretch of road

Lots of beautiful breathtaking bamboo scenes

Throughout the forest you’ll see this beautiful parasitic ixora look-alike flower

Perfect morning sunlight falls on some greens

Million dollar laugh

Do prepare to fend of leeches if you’re going there after a rain. I didn’t encounter any leeches but I had friends who warned us about it. Bring ample food for breakfast and lunch. You can even setup a BBQ session if you’re up for it.

Lastly, if you visit. DO THE SLIDE!

DO THE SLIDE!

I’m a dog lover but I’ll make an exception for this fiesty cat that bullies alligators. [Video]

I hate cats. They do not contribute any significant benefit to human race except for all the LOLCAT videos and memes. But today I’m gonna make an exception and post something about cats.

This cat is either the bravest or the most foolish cat I’ve ever seen. The pussy cat decides to score some free chicken. What does the cat do? It swipes the alligator across the face a few times. I’m truly surprised at how easily the alligator gave up and returned into its swamp.

Check out the video and be sure to listen to the funny conversations at the background.
